It is observed that the demand received from international markets for Turkish welded pipe is still lively, while Turkish mills continue to conclude sales to their target markets. While domestic welded pipe prices in Turkey have remained stable during the past week, export offers have also maintained their levels week on week. Market sources foresee a change in Turkish welded pipe export quotations if the current uncertainties surrounding global free trade end and if raw material prices show a clearer trend in the coming days.
Meanwhile, Turkish producers’ offer range for ERW pipes and hollow sections with 2-4 mm wall thickness made from hot rolled coil (HRC) of S235 grade as per EN 10219 to their export markets has remained stable over the past week at $700-720/mt FOB.
With the US authorities announcing that the temporary exemptions from the 25 percent Section 232 tariffs are to be extended until June 1, the general opinion in the international market is now that the uncertainties will continue for another month. However, Turkish steel mills state that the US has not been one of their target markets for some time now, while they are focusing on the result of European Commission’s safeguard investigation.
