The Turkish hollow section market has remained relatively stable this week, with market activity continuing at a slower-than-expected pace following the holiday period. While participants had anticipated a stronger recovery in demand after the break, purchasing activity has largely remained limited to immediate requirements, resulting in only modest trading volumes. Nevertheless, hollow section producers have continued to maintain relatively firm offer levels, supported by stable-to-firm domestic hot rolled coil prices and ongoing cost pressure from the raw material side. Market sources indicate that, although mills are attempting to preserve current pricing levels, discounts remain available for serious buyers and larger-volume transactions, reflecting the still-fragile demand environment. Export activity has also remained moderate, with limited inquiries reported from traditional nearby destinations.
Against this background, domestic hollow section prices in Turkey are still heard at around $710-730/mt ex-works, largely unchanged compared to the previous week. However, workable levels for serious buyers are reported to start from approximately $695-710/mt ex-works, depending on payment terms and volume.
Meanwhile, export offers have remained within the range of $700-725/mt FOB, with suppliers generally showing some flexibility in negotiations for firm orders, although most producers continue to resist significant price reductions in an effort to protect margins.
