Seamless pipe suppliers in Spain continue to suffer from the international price downturn and slack demand from local buyers due to the financial crisis in the region. Domestic and export quotations of Spanish seamless pipes have declined by €30-50/mt ($72-100/mt) over the past month. Meanwhile, prices offered from China have decreased by a maximum of €10/mt over the past month, while quotations of Ukrainian material have stayed unchanged. At the same time, import prices for Italian seamless pipes have moved down by €10-30/mt over the period under review. Spanish suppliers continue to look at export destinations to secure bookings as the domestic market remains dead. Local buyers prefer to take a wait-and-see approach amid extremely sluggish end-user demand and the uncertain price trend. However, the expectation is that buyer activity in Spain will not revive before September due to the approach of the summer holidays in Europe.
Current Spanish domestic prices for 2"-4" hot-formed seamless pipes, grade B made to ASTM A106, are at around €1,150-1,180/mt ($1,441-1,479/mt) ex-works, while 6"-10" pipes are at €1,200-1,300/mt ($1,504-1,630/mt) ex-works.
Current export prices of Spanish seamless pipes, 2"-4" grade B according to ASTM A53, are varying at around €1,185-1,220/mt ($1,485-1,529/mt) FOB, while 6"-10" seamless pipes are at €1,240-1,340/mt ($1,554-1,680/mt) FOB.
Prices for Chinese seamless pipes, 2"-6" grade B made to ASTM A106/API 5L, are at about €800-880/mt ($1,003-1,103/mt) CFR Spain, exclusive of antidumping duties (in the range of 17.7-39.2 percent depending on the producer).
Offers of June-July production Ukrainian seamless pipes with 42-168 mm diameter of 10, 20 steel grade made to GOST 8731/8732 from Interpipe are being given to Spain at €920-950/mt ($1,153-1,190/mt) CPT. Prices are shown exclusive of 25.1 percent antidumping duty. Quotations of seamless pipes from another Ukrainian producer Dniepropetrovsk Tube Works are at about €950-960/mt ($1,190-1,203/mt) CPT, excluding 12 percent of antidumping tax.
Quotations of Italian seamless pipes, 6"-10" grade B made to ASTM A106, to Spain are at €1,300-1,400/mt ($1,629-1,755/mt) CPT.
