Local Chinese steel pipe prices have moved sideways or down slightly during the past week.
Chinese domestic seamless pipe prices have followed a stable trend during the past week. Overall trading activity has been weak. Prices of billet and other raw materials have rebounded slightly, providing some support for seamless pipe prices. However, since demand has remained weak due to the offseason and cold weather, some traders have been willing to offer discounts in order to close more deals during the end of the month. As for the week ahead, it is believed that seamless pipe prices may indicate slight decreases.
Local Chinese welded pipe prices have continued their slight downtrend during the past week since demand and overall trading activity have been sluggish due to the colder weather, even though upstream steel strip prices have moved up a little. As for the week ahead, it is believed that welded pipe prices may indicate a further softening.
