Local Chinese steel pipe prices mostly remain stable

Local Chinese steel pipe prices have showed a mostly stable trend during the past week.  

Chinese domestic seamless pipe prices have followed a stable trend during the past week. Overall trading activity is still weak due to the off-season and due to the proximity of the Chinese New Year holiday. Upstream billet prices and other raw material prices have followed a downward trend, which exerts some pressure on seamless pipe prices. As for the week ahead, it is believed that seamless pipe prices may soften a little.   

Chinese domestic welded pipe prices have moved sideways during the past week, with some slight decreases also seen. Overall trading activity has remained sluggish. Prices of steel strip and of other raw materials have followed a downward trend, causing some traders to reduce their welded pipe prices. As for the week ahead, as support from the cost side may continue to weaken, it is believed that welded pipe prices may indicate small decreases.
