The local Chinese steel pipe prices have indicated various fluctuations during the past week.
Local Chinese seamless pipe prices have mostly softened during the past week. Overall trading activity has been weak. Prices of billet and other raw materials have lately showed a rebounding trend, which has provided support for seamless pipe prices. But since demand is still low, most traders have still been willing to reduce their quoted prices in order to close more deals. As for the week ahead, it is believed that seamless pipe prices may continue their slightly soft trend.
Chinese domestic welded pipe prices have showed a rebounding trend during the past seven days. Overall trading activity is at normal levels and market inventory has declined and is considered to be at a low level. The recent increase in steel strip prices has provided strong support for welded pipe prices. As for the week ahead, considering the low inventory and the support from the cost side, it is believed that welded pipe prices may move up by small margins.
