Chinese steel pipe export offer prices unchanged

During the week ending February 27, average Chinese steel pipe export offer prices have moved on a stable trend. At present, export offers for API 5L seamless pipe given by Chinese suppliers are in the range of $620-710/mt FOB, while export offers for API 5L welded pipe given by Chinese suppliers are at $550-565/mt FOB.

During the given week, due to frequent changes in steel strip prices and ferrous futures prices in China, domestic steel pipe prices have only fluctuated with a limited range. Steel pipe inventories have increased after the Chinese New Year holiday, and this has encouraged suppliers to focus on sales. However, steelmakers’ ex-works prices have bolstered offer prices of steel pipe in the spot market. Since demand for steel pipes is expected to improve, steel pipe prices are unlikely to soften in the coming period. It is expected that steel pipe export prices from China will move sideways in the coming week.
