Chinese steel pipe export offer prices move sideways

During the week ending April 24, average Chinese steel pipe export offer prices have indicated a stable trend. At present, export offers for API 5L seamless pipe given by Chinese suppliers are in the range of $650-740/mt FOB, while export offers for API 5L welded pipe given by Chinese suppliers are at $550-565/mt FOB.

At the beginning of the given week, semi-finished steel prices in China increased, though ferrous metal futures prices subsequently moved down, exerting negative pressure on steel pipe prices. As the Labor Day holiday (May 1-4) is approaching, demand for steel pipes will likely slacken. It is expected that steel pipe export prices from China will move sideways in the coming week.
