During the week ending April 3, average Chinese steel pipe export offer prices have moved on a stable trend. At present, export offers for API 5L seamless pipe given by Chinese suppliers are in the range of $650-740/mt FOB, while export offers for API 5L welded pipe given by Chinese suppliers are at $550-565/mt FOB.
During the given week, traders in the steel pipe market have been unwilling to build up stocks due to the lifting of winter production restrictions in northern China and the reduction of the value-added tax rate. Demand for steel pipes in March has not been as good as expected, and so market participants are cautious as regards the future prospects for the market. It is expected that steel pipe export prices from China will move on a soft trend in the coming week.
