Chinese steel pipe export offer prices continue their stable trend

During the week ending December 11, average Chinese steel pipe export offer prices have continued to move sideways. At present, export offers for API 5L seamless pipe given by Chinese suppliers are in the range of $595-680/mt FOB, while export offers for API 5L welded pipe given by Chinese suppliers are at $510-530/mt FOB, January shipment.

During the given week, demand for steel pipe from downstream users has slackened amid cold weather conditions. Meanwhile, market players mostly have a cautious view of the future prospects for the market and have been seeking to keep their stocks at relatively low levels.

Rebar futures prices at Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) stand at RMB 3,743/mt ($532/mt) on December 11, up RMB 140/mt ($20/mt) from December 4.
