During the week ending March 6, average Chinese seamless pipe export offer prices have increased, while welded pipe export prices have remained stable. At present, export offers for API 5L seamless pipe given by Chinese suppliers are in the range of $630-720/mt FOB, while export offers for API 5L welded pipe given by Chinese suppliers are at $550-565/mt FOB.

During the given week, demand for steel pipes has improved, while inventory consumption has not reached the expected pace due to the ongoing rainy weather in eastern and southern China. Meanwhile, air pollution in northern China has negatively affected steel pipe production, which has bolstered domestic and export steel pipe prices. Steel pipe export prices from China are expected to move upwards in the coming week as the weather becomes warmer and demand gets better.
