After the short-lived rising movement observed in the Polish welded pipe market, trading activity has slowed down over the past month due to seasonal factors. However, during the period in question, local producers have maintained their domestic welded pipe prices at the same level in euro terms, but due to currency fluctuations their prices in dollar terms have decreased by $14-17/mt. Import offers of Italian welded pipes have moved down by €10/mt ($13/mt) over the past month, while Bulgarian suppliers have left their prices unchanged. Market players believe recovery of demand for welded pipes in Poland may be restricted in the coming period by the unstable economy of EU countries affected by deflation, geopolitical problems and the coming winter season. However, construction and infrastructure projects are going to accelerate next year in the country and so an upturn in welded pipe consumption will probably take place in 2015.
