US domestic pig iron prices rise for second quarter contracts

On March 16, SteelOrbis reported US domestic basic steelmaking pig iron prices at $397/mt ($360/nt) FOB Chicago warehouse with nodular and foundry pig iron grade prices at approximately $463/mt ($420/nt) FOB Chicago warehouse.

According to sources close to SteelOrbis, US domestic basic steelmaking pig iron prices are presently at $413-419/mt ($375-380/nt) FOB Chicago warehouse and $468-485($425-440/nt) FOB Chicago warehouse on nodular and foundry pig iron grades.  The source noted that these are the active prices for second-quarter contracts as the first quarter comes to a close. These prices reflect an increase of $16-22/mt on basic pig iron prices and an increase of $5-22/mt on nodular pig iron.
