Local Turkish scrap market remains stable

While Turkey’s efforts to keep international scrap prices stable over past weeks have been successful, their domestic scrap procurement prices have also followed a sideways movement. Despite the fluctuations of the Turkish lira-US dollar exchange rate, no significant change has been recorded in the exchange rate, allowing Turkish mills to keep their prices stable. No major change in local scrap quotations is expected in the coming week.

As a result, the general range in the local Turkish scrap market for the benchmark DKP grade scrap still stands TRY 12,400-13,700/mt. Due to the fluctuations observed in the exchange rate, the dollar-based quotations have moved down from $313-345/mt to $311-344/mt.
