During the week ending February 12, steel scrap prices in the Chinese domestic market have mostly moved on a stable trend, though increasing in certain regions, while transaction activity in the overall market has been at low levels. Average scrap prices in China’s main markets are presented in the following table.

During the given week, domestic scrap prices in China have indicated slight rises in certain regions as some steelmakers needed to replenish stocks after the long holiday, while scrap prices have moved sideways in a majority of regions as most steelmakers have not resumed production yet. It is expected that scrap prices in the Chinese market will move upwards in the coming week.
