Ex-CIS pig iron prices have remained unchanged over the past week in the range of $335-350/mt FOB. Pig iron export prices from the CIS region increased last week following the shortages caused by the loss in iron ore production, but CIS-based pig iron suppliers’ export sales are still continuing after slowing down towards the end of last week.

Having maintained their wait-and-see stance towards the ex-CIS pig iron offers at $370/mt CFR in previous weeks as they aimed to close deals at lower prices, some Italian buyers have concluded bookings for small tonnages of ex-CIS pig iron bookings at $360-365/mt CFR over the past week. On the other hand, it is noteworthy that most Italian market players have kept their firm bids unchanged week on week at $350-355/mt CFR.

SteelOrbis has been informed that pig iron imports in the US have been transacted in the range of $355-360/mt CFR. According to market sources, a Russian pig iron sale at $360/mt CFR has been concluded in the US. Meanwhile, no new pig iron transaction has been heard in Turkey in the current week.
