Over the past week, ex-CIS pig iron prices increased by $5/mt on the lower end and decreaseed by on the upper end to $335-345/mt FOB. According to market sources, demand is still lively and Italian buyers have increased their price inquiries. Ex-CIS pig iron offers to Italy are at $360-365/mt CIF, while offers to Turkey are at $350/mt CIF. While high levels of iron ore prices are still supporting pig iron prices, buyers have pulled their firm bids to lower levels due to the softening of scrap prices in the recent days.
