Despite the lack of any fundamental changes, an Australian supplier has managed to get a slightly higher price for premium coking coal in the latest transaction. Specifically, lately a 75,000 mt cargo of ex-Australia premium mid volatility hard coking coal, for October 22-31 laycan has been traded at $255/mt FOB Australia. Before the deal in question, in the middle of September two cargoes of premium hard low-volatility coking coal (HCCLV) with October laycan were traded at $252/mt FOB Australia and at $248/mt FOB Australia, respectively.

Meanwhile, at Singapore Exchange (SGX) coking coal futures sentiments have also become somewhat bullish. As of September 21, ex-Australia coking coal prices for September contracts have increased by $2/mt compared to the previous levels, reaching $262/mt, while for October contracts prices have settled at $254.33/mt, up by $7.33/mt.
