According to market sources, Ukrainian pig iron offers to the export markets are currently in the range of $345-355/mt FOB, while Russian pig iron export offers are currently at $325-335/mt FOB.

Meanwhile, Russian and Ukrainian pig iron offers to Turkey are in the range of $335-350/mt CFR, and $350-365/mt CFR, respectively.

Market sources state that, with suppliers being away from the market due to the New Year and Christmas holiday period, the CIS pig iron market has been quiet over the past week. They also report that pig iron prices in the CIS market, both local and export, may be revised after suppliers' return to the market on January 12. On the other hand, Russian pig iron suppliers will continue to have a competitive advantage in export offers due to the weakness of the Russian ruble against the US dollar.
