Despite an overall “sleepy” US import wire market, sources say buyer interest can still be piqued with offers that come in around $33.00 cwt. ($728/mt or $660/nt) DDP loaded truck in US Gulf ports. That level encompasses slightly lower offer from India at $32.00-$32.50 cwt. ($705-$717/mt or $640-$650/nt) DDP loaded truck in US Gulf ports, along with the lower end of the range from Germany and Malaysia, still trending around $33.00-$35.00 cwt. ($728-$772/mt or $660-$700/nt) DDP loaded truck in US Gulf ports.

Additionally, sources tell SteelOrbis that new potential offers from Ecuador have been heard in the market, and even though a firm price point could not be confirmed, sources say it “will have to hit that $33.00 cwt. mark or lower” for anyone to consider booking an order.
