Interest and inquiry activity within the US import wire rod market continues to trend weak, although some sources say that hints of an uptrend in the US domestic wire rod market could make imports more attractive despite the lingering uncertainty in the market that has buyers wary of booking material to arrive in the future. However, sources say it is unlikely that import wire rod offer prices will go up “just because domestics are going up.”

As such, US import wire rod from Germany are stable this week in the range of $28.50-$29.00 cwt. ($628-$639/mt or $570-$580/nt) DDP loaded truck in US Gulf ports.
