Local Turkish rebar market continues its sideways movement

Thursday, 21 March 2019 17:15:37 (GMT+3)   |   Istanbul

Domestic rebar prices in Turkey made a sideways start to the current week and are still stable. Market sources state that Turkish rebar traders are cautious about the Turkish lira-US dollar exchange rate and are in no rush to reflect changes in the exchange rate in their prices due to its current high volatility. On the other hand, SteelOrbis has been informed that demand in the local Turkish rebar market has continued to be characterized by weakness as buyers prefer to conclude sales only in line with their needs ahead of the local elections to be held on March 31.

Meanwhile, Turkish steel producer Icdas has kept its sales prices for 12-32 mm rebar stable at TRY 2,765/mt ($507/mt) + VAT ex-works after revising them on March 19. Additionally, another Turkish steel mill Izmir Demir Celik has kept its 12-32 mm rebar offers unchanged at TRY 2,754/mt ($505/mt) ex-works, excluding 18 percent VAT, since March 19.

As of today, March 21, rebar offers in the Turkish spot market are as follows:
