As of today, February 12, local rebar prices in the Turkish spot market have remained unchanged in the local currency with minor changes on US dollar basis compared to February 9, amid ongoing currency fluctuations and sluggish demand. Consequently, local 12 mm rebar prices in the spot market are now in the range of TRY 28,300-29,000/mt ($540-554/mt) ex-warehouse, depending on the region, with the exchange rate at $1 = TRY 43.64.
Official rebar offers for cash payments in the Marmara and Izmir regions, including İçdaş' prices, have settled at $545-565/mt ex-works, unchanged compared to February 9, while acceptable prices are still at $540-560/mt ex-works, unchanged over the same period.
One Iskenderun-based mill has set its official rebar price today at TRY 28,350/mt ($541/mt), indicating an increase of TRY 100/mt ($1/mt) compared to February 9. Sources say several Iskenderun-based rolling mills are offering rebar today to serious buyers at TRY 28,350-28,600/mt ($541-546/mt) ex-warehouse, also up TRY 50-100/mt with minor changes on US dollar, as compared to February 9.
Most local buyers are in wait-and-see mode, while exerting pressure for further discounts.
