Chinese domestic steel section prices have continued an upward trend during the past week.
As for billet, prices of the semi-finished steel products in the Chinese domestic market have indicated a fluctuation with upward trend during the past week. In Tangshan, the current price of Q235 150 x 150 mm square billet is at RMB 5,260/mt ($813/mt), the price of 165 x 225 mm rectangular billet stands at RMB 5,280/mt ($816/mt), while the price of 20MnSi billet is at around RMB 5,360/mt ($828/mt). The prices are all ex-mill, including 13 percent VAT.
Chinese section steel prices have continued an upward trend during the past week. Upstream billet prices have followed a slightly upward trend which lead most section producers to increase their quoted prices and traders had to follow. Supply volume recently has increased slightly. Demand side remained weak amid hot and rainy weather. Traders are not willing to increase their stock levels in order to avoid risk. As for the week ahead, it is believed that sections steel prices may follow a fluctuating trend with slight increases.
