As with last week, SteelOrbis sources are indicating that imported 0.012”x40.875” G30 coil in the US domestic market from Pakistan, the UAE, Turkey and South Africa is being heard at $39-$41 cwt. ($860-$882/mt or $780-$820/nt), DDP loaded truck in US Gulf coast ports, whereas imported for 0.019”x48” G90 coil in the US domestic market from Turkey and Thailand continues to be heard at $40-$42 cwt. ($882-$926/mt or $800-$840/nt), DDP loaded truck in US Gulf coast ports.
Interest in booking tons from offshore steelmakers has been tepid in recent weeks due to ongoing downticks within the US HDG spot market. It is also worth noting that California Steel Industries (CSI), Nucor, NLMK USA and US Steel have all announced they will be raising prices on US HDG coil by $1.50 cwt. ($33/mt or $30/nt), effective immediately, although it’s not yet clear whether this will help push US spot market prices higher, which could in turn, spur US buyers’ interest in considering offshore offers.
