Over the past week, demand for import flat steel in Turkey has remained week, as buyers have postponed their bookings until the new year in order to avoid starting the year with high inventories. As a result of the sharp rises in global raw material prices seen during the past two weeks, global hot rolled coil (HRC) prices are expected to move upwards in January and CIS-based suppliers are expected to increase their flat steel offers to Turkey.

For now, ex-CIS flat steel offers to Turkey have remained stable week on week. Ukrainian and Russian hot rolled coil (HRC) offers to Turkey are still at $535-540/mt CFR and to $535-545/mt CFR, respectively. Meanwhile, Ukrainian and Russian cold rolled coil (CRC) offers to Turkey are at $580-590/mt CFR and at $580-600/mt CFR, respectively.
