Turkey-based Yıldızlar Yatırım Holding plans to commission its iron and steel company Yıldız Demir Çelik in three phases by 2023. The investment was launched in June 2016 in Kocaeli, northwestern Turkey.

The plant’s first phase is scheduled to be in operation in the first quarter of 2018, while the second phase will start operations in the third quarter of 2019. The company aims to export 30 percent of its production. Total investment for all three phases is expected to reach €310 million.

Yıldız Demir Çelik is expected to use iron ore in steel production with an annual production capacity of 300,000 mt of cold rolled steel, 100,000 mt of hot rolled steel and 1.1 million mt of galvanized steel for white goods, automotive and radiator manufacturers.
