Turkish buyers not showing much interest in steel plate import offers

Ukrainian steel producers Alchevsk Iron and Steel Works and Ilyich Iron and Steel Works of Mariupol (Ilyich), which did not place any plate offers for the Turkish market last month, have announced their offers for the current month. Accordingly, Alchevsk Iron and Steel Works is offering steel plate to the Turkish market at $690/mt CFR, while Ilyich's offers to Turkey for S235JR steel plate are standing at $690/mt CFR for loading in May.
 
In the meantime, Macedonian steel producer Makstil is still offering steel plate to Turkey at last month's price level of $840/mt CFR. Bulgarian mill Stomana is expected to issue its plate offers for the Turkish market next week.
 
Despite these offers, Turkish buyers are not showing much interest in these steel plate import offers in line with the weak flat steel demand in the Turkish market.
