Notwithstanding the local market has been suffering from unfavorable factors, Romania's sole flat steel producer and traders have chosen to maintain prices unchanged as in recent weeks. According to industry participants, the market outlook has become bleak, especially considering the start of summer vacation, which has reduced business activity significantly. On top of that, even if market participants provide discounts or price cuts, they are not capturing customers' attention.

“No movement in the Romanian market due to summer vacations, and we have opted to keep the price expectation, not because we obtain it from the market, but because even lower levels would not spark an increase in demand,” a representative of the sole producer commented to SteelOrbis.

The domestic steel producer in Romania maintains the previous week’s levels and offers the September production of hot rolled coil (HRC) and cot rolled coil (CRC) at €675/mt ex-works and €795/mt ex-works, respectively.

Similarly, traders' pricing for hot rolled sheets (HRS) and cold rolled sheets (CRS) has remained unchanged from last week, at €760-790/mt ex-warehouse and €880-900/mt ex-warehouse, respectively.

Moreover, the mill's domestic market pricing for HDG and PPGI in the category of coated steel held steady from the prior week at €825/mt ex-works and €1,115/mt ex-works, respectively.

While in the import segment, ex-Ukraine has reportedly softened its HRS and CRS offer this week in comparison to earlier offers. According to sources, HRS offers have decreased from €670/mt to €660/mt DAP, while CRS offers have fallen by €10-20/mt to €750-760/mt DAP. Meanwhile, according to sources, for heavy plates, Bulgaria and Italy have offered the same levels as before at €820/mt DAP and €830/mt DAP, respectively, while South Korea has offered at €780/mt CIF for October shipment.
