Over the past week, offers from the sole Romanian flat steel producers and local flat steel traders have remained unchanged, though there are concerns for the weeks ahead. The main reason is that business activity is solid but not exceptionally robust, raising fears about a possible weakening. Additionally, it is believed that the sole producer will provide fresh offers for March delivery in the coming weeks, which may affect the market.
“Prices are the same as they were last week, and demand is holding steady. It is not exactly at the level it should be, but it is also not completely silent. In the meantime, the sole producer's prices for March delivery are expected to be announced next week, which may have an impact on the market,” a trader told SteelOrbis
According to reports, the domestic steel producer in Romania has kept offers for hot rolled coil (HRC) prices at €590-600/mt CPT. Similarly, the spot market prices for hot rolled sheets (HRS) and cold rolled sheets (CRS) have remained unchanged from last week, at €725-750/mt ex-warehouse and €835-850/mt ex-warehouse, respectively.
Meanwhile, in the import category, sources claim that ex-Ukraine offers for HRS and CRC have remained stable week on week at €650-660/mt DAP and €740-750/mt DAP, respectively. Additionally, Turkish mills are still providing HRC at FOB prices of $520-540/mt, with freight costs of around €25/mt, arriving in Romania at around €525-545/mt CFR, down from €530-555/mt CFR in previous weeks.
