Due to low demand, prices have declined both for local and import materials by $10-20/mt in the Turkish steel plate market. "We have still low demand for steel plates and now prices for hot rolled coil (HRC) are also under pressure. Also, import scrap prices moved down last week. We have no choice but to respond positively to customer requests at the moment. We are trying to be flexible as far as the flat steel market allows us," a trader told SteelOrbis.
Erdemir's prices for plate have moved down by $10/mt to $500-510/mt ex-works for S235JR quality and at $550/mt ex-works for S355 quality plates, for September production. Retail plate prices in Turkey have dropped by $10/mt, SteelOrbis has learned.
Import offers have also decreased since last week. Bulgaria’s Stomana Industry S.A. is in the market with $530-540/mt CFR for S235JR grade and $570-580/mt CFR for S355JR grade, down by $10-20/mt for September production. In the shipbuilding plate segment, Macedonia-based Makstil’s price is at €490-500/mt CFR for August-September deliveries, down by €10/mt, SteelOrbis has learned.
