Usiminas Cosipa, the sole producer of heavy plates in Brazil, is reportedly selling in the domestic market the product with more than 10mm in thickness, “A” Grade, at the equivalent to $780/mt, ex-works, no taxes included, an industry source told SteelOrbis, adding that such price is stable over one month.

Meanwhile, Brazil imported during November 9,800mt of plates with more than 10mm in thickness, against 9,900 mt in October, at an FOB price 2 percent lower, $860/mt.

From the 9,800 mt imported in November, 9,200mt came from Austria, according to the country’s ministry of industry, development and foreign trade, MDIC.

Exports of similar products by the country fetched 8,400 mt in November, 80 percent less than in October, at an average price 37 percent lower, $530/mt.

The reduced volume exported reflects exports to the US reduced by 89 percent to 2,000 mt and exports to Taiwan reduced by 56 percent to 6,000 mt, while the reduced price reflects the exports to Taiwan closed at $423/mt, against $985/mt in October.
