According to sources, the new reference price for negotiations of Brazilian slab exports to non-US destinations is now $560/mt, FOB conditions for the basic commercial grades; offers are being considered for the last volumes of February shipments and the first shipments in March.

One week ago, the price level was $545/mt, under the same conditions.

According to a local exporter, the slab market has improved over the last few weeks, with intense demand for the product, ultimately destined to be rolled into heavy plates, to feed many projects of gas pipelines, currently being developed in different countries.

Preliminary indications are pointing to a stable volume of slab exported from Brazil in December, in relation to the 463,700 mt exported in November.
