According to local sources, Turkey’s Erdemir has decreased its prices for August-September deliveries by $30-40/mt over the past two weeks, to around $810-820/mt ex-works base. Some buyers, however, assume $780-790/mt ex-works levels may also be reachable in special cases.

Import plate offers from Bulgaria have decreased by another $20/mt over the past fortnight to $890/mt CFR for mid-August shipments. Romania is in the market with $890/mt CFR offer for similar shipment terms, down $40/mt over the same period.

South Korean suppliers have failed to achieve the earlier targeted $820/mt CFR level for St37 grade and have rolled back to $780-800/mt CFR, SteelOrbis has learned. “POSCO will have maintenance in August and will have around 40 percent of allocation, versus the regular allocation,” a supplier said.

As for China, no firm offers have been reported by the time of publication, but some sources have reported indications of around $670-690/mt CFR.
