According to figures showing Turkey's main sources of steel plate imports in 2010 and 2011, it can be seen that Romania, the largest steel plate import source of Turkey in 2010, is replaced by Italy in 2011. Although Turkey mostly imports steel plate from Europe for project-based works, ready-stock materials are also imported from Italy.

As for European producers' steel plate offers to Turkey this month, Italian mills' steel plate offers to Turkey are standing at €620/mt ($812/mt) FOB for new production.

On the other hand, Macedonian steel plate producer Makstil's offers to Turkey have remained unchanged as compared to previous weeks at $825/mt CFR. In the meantime, Bulgarian flat steel producer Stomana is offering steel plate at €560/mt ($739/mt) FOB, while ex-Romania steel plate offers to Turkey are at $770/mt CFR.
