Import plate demand in Turkey has been on the weak side for a long period, while no improvements have been recorded in the market. In the meantime, import plate prices have softened over the past month amid the declining trend of global hot rolled coil (HRC) prices. Accordingly, Ukrainian plate offers to Turkey have declined by $15-20/mt, while ex-Macedonia plate prices have moved down by $5/mt and Bulgarian plate offer prices have indicated a decrease of €5-10/mt ($6-13/mt) over the given period.
Currently, steel plate offers to Turkey given by Ukraine-based Alchevsk Iron and Steel Works are standing at $560/mt CFR, while Ilyich Iron & Steel Works is offering plate to Turkey at the base price level of $560/mt CFR. In addition, Macedonia-based Makstil's offers are now standing at $710/mt CFR for and Bulgaria-based Stomana's offers are at base price level of €490-500/mt ($632-645/mt) CFR. All the above offers are for July shipment, except Stomana's offers which are for shipment in June.
