According to market sources, while demand in the UK flat steel market has improved slightly over the past week, strong competition between the major market players has prevented prices from moving upwards.

HRC offers in the UK domestic market have decreased by £5/mt ($8/mt) compared to last month and are now at £400-410/mt ($672-689/mt) ex-works, excluding 20 percent VAT and for July production.

Ex-India HRC offers to the UK have remained unchanged since last month at £385-395/mt ($647-664/mt) CIF. HRC offers from Europe to the UK have softened by £5/mt ($8/mt) over the same period to £390-400/mt ($655-672/mt) CIF, while ex-China HRC offers have decreased by £10/mt ($16/mt) month on month and are currently at £370-380/mt ($622-638/mt) CIF. All the prices are for September shipments.
