According to market sources close to SteelOrbis, in the third week of February S275 plate prices in the local Italian heavy plate market decreased by €10/mt to €525/mt ex-works on average compared to beginning of the month due to weak demand. This week, prices have increased by €10/mt to €535/mt ($562/mt) ex-works on average, due to low availability of slab, the imposition of definitive antidumping duty on the Chinese heavy plate by the EU, and the general rising trend of the international steel markets. On the other hand, demand is not an important factor, as it is unstable. However, demand from traders is likely to recover as they need to restock amid reduced heavy plate import volumes in the market.
