HDG prices soften in Italian domestic market since early June

Demand for coated flat steel products in Italy is still weak, while hot dip galvanized (HDG) coil prices have decreased by about €20/mt ($25/mt) as compared to early this month. While Indian mills' HDG coil and pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI) offers have not showed any changes, these producers are abstaining from giving offers to Italy, reducing their export allocation for the Italian market due to low demand.
 
In the Italian domestic market, the PPGI price range has widened with an increase of €15/mt ($19/mt) on the upper end, though no improvement has been observed in demand and the market continues to remain quiet.
 
Accordingly, 0.6 mm hot dip galvanized (HDG) prices in the Italian domestic market are now at €650-655/mt ($808-814/mt), while prices for 100 gr/m² zinc coated RAL 9001 pre-painted sheet of 0.6 mm thickness are standing at €830-850/mt ($1,032-1,057/mt), both ex-warehouse.
 
Meanwhile, SteelOrbis has learned from market sources that Indian 0.6 mm PPGI offers to Italy are still standing at €800/mt ($994/mt) CFR, while Indian offers for 0.6 mm hot dip galvanized (HDG) sheet are at €650/mt ($808/mt) CFR.
