Brazilian producers are negotiating hot dipped galvanized products (HDG) for export at $810/mt, FOB conditions, a local exporter told SteelOrbis. The reference price compares with a range of $820/mt to $840/mt FOB that was valid since November.
The source mentioned that the new price is in line with plans to export the product beyond countries in Latin America and the US.
In January, Brazil exported 18,900 mt of HDG, 40 percent less than in December, all destined to Latin America (13,600 mt at $956/mt) and the US (5,300 mt at $793/mt) FOB conditions.
The exporters were CSN (7,900 mt at $799/mt), Usiminas (6,000 mt at $1,054/mt) and ArcelorMittal (5,000 mt at $912/mt), with price deals probably closed in November.
In the Brazilian domestic market, HDG is sold by distributors at BRL 4,840/mt ($1,485/mt), ex-works, full taxes except IPI, having the Z-100, 1.11mm thickness product as reference.
In January, Brazil imported 14,800 mt of HDG, of which 11,700 mt from China at $695/mt, FOB conditions. The last HDG offer received by Brazilian importers from China was also priced at $695/mt, FOB conditions.
