SteelOrbis has learned from market sources that import flat rolled offers to Turkey have been announced this week, while Turkish buyers’ demand for import products has increased to medium levels. Demand for imports in Turkey has improved amid increased flat steel demand in the local Turkish market and the full order books of Turkish producers, who have filled their order books for 2013 production and have begun to take orders for January. Some import offers have been trending sideways, while others have increased. Amid the price hikes in the global market, the increased import prices have been accepted in Turkey, just like the local market price increases.
As for hot rolled coil (HRC), ex-Ukraine offers to Turkey have increased by $20/mt since last month to $545–550/mt CFR, while offers from Slovakia and Romania have remained unchanged over the same period at $560–565/mt CFR and $560–565/mt CFR, respectively. Offers from Russia have remained unchanged since last month to $570–575/mt CFR and ex-Italy offers have also increased by €10/mt ($13/mt) and reached €425/mt ($574/mt) CFR.
Meanwhile, ex-Ukraine cold rolled coil (CRC) offers to Turkey have increased by $5/mt since last month to $620–625/mt CFR. However, ex-Romania CRC offers have remained unchanged at $680–690/mt CFR while CRC offers from Russia to Turkey are at $690–715/mt CFR and from Italy are at €495–505/mt ($668-682/mt) CFR.
