Chinese domestic steel plate prices move upwards after the holiday

Monday, 09 October 2017 16:17:44 (GMT+3)   |   Shanghai

During the week ending October 9, average prices of steel plate in the Chinese domestic market have increased significantly, while transaction activity in the overall steel plate market has been at low-to-medium levels. Average steel plate prices in China are presented in the table below.

During the given period, semi-finished steel prices in northern China have indicated significant rises, exerting a positive impact on steel plate prices, with traders increasing their offer prices after the long National Day Holiday (October 1-8). Moreover, most steelmakers have increased their ex-works prices for steel plate, also bolstering steel plate prices in the spot market. However, demand has not shown any significant improvement. It is thought that steel plate prices in the Chinese domestic market will likely move sideways in the coming week.
