A distributor in the Brazilian northern state of Piaui told SteelOrbis that he is maintaining imports of CRC from China and from countries in Eastern Europe.

He mentioned that despite paying freight rates around $50/mt, imports remain profitable due to the high prices of the product in the domestic market, currently estimated at the equivalent to more than $800/mt, FOB conditions, no taxes included.

Price negotiations for such imports are currently around $500/mt, CFR conditions, for CRC of the basic commercial grades.

In June Brazil imported CRC in average at $361/mt, of which from China at $285/mt, from South Korea at $776/mt and from the EU at $614/mt, all FOB conditions.
