Major Chinese steelmaker Baosteel has issued its prices for carbon steel flat products for delivery in May. The details are as follows (comparisons are with April delivery prices):
1. Hot rolled coil (HRC):
a) Prices of products from Baosteel's main steel production base have decreased by RMB 100/mt ($16/mt).
2. Hot rolled pickled products:
a) Prices of products from Baosteel's main steel production base have decreased by RMB 50/mt ($8/mt).
b) Prices of products from Baosteel's Shanghai-based subsidiary Meishan Steel have also decreased by RMB 50/mt ($8/mt).
3. Cold rolled (CR) products:
a) Prices of cold rolled products from the main steel base are down RMB 150/mt ($24/mt).
b) Products from Meishan Steel are RMB 100/mt ($16/mt) lower in price than products from
the main steel base.
4. Hot dip galvanized (HDG):
a) Prices of common quality (CQ) grade, S series and HDG base plates from the main steel base have decreased by RMB 100/mt ($16/mt), with other product prices down RMB 50/mt ($8/mt).
b) Prices of products from Meishan Steel have decreased by RMB 100/mt ($16/mt).
5. Electro-galvanized (EG) products:
Prices of CQ products are down RMB 100/mt ($16/mt), while prices of other products are down RMB 50/mt ($8/mt).
6. Galvalume:
Prices of HDG from the main steel base and Meishan Steel have declined by RMB100/mt ($16/mt).
7. Non-grain-oriented (NGO) electrical steel prices:
Prices have decreased by RMB100/mt ($16/mt).
8. Grain-oriented (GO) electrical steel prices:
Prices are unchanged.
All the above price changes are effective from April 11 and exclude 17 percent VAT
