Zlatoust Metallurgical Works (ZMZ), a subsidiary of the Russian steel producer ESTAR Holding, has announced that by the end of January this year it plans to commission the second furnace at its electro-smelting shop No.2, planning to increase its steel output by about 11 percent month on month to 24,542 mt. Currently, ZMZ's electro-smelting shops No. 1 and No.2 still operate with one furnace each.
In January 2010, ZMZ also plans to produce 26,200 mt of rolled steel products, while its deliveries are scheduled to reach 26,080 mt. During the first ten days of January, ZMZ has shipped 5,970 mt of steel products.
In December 2009, ZMZ melted 22,121 mt of steel, including 10,156 in open hearth furnaces, produced 22,810 mt of rolled steel products, and delivered 21,209 mt of products to its customers.
As SteelOrbis previously reported, in August 2009 Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant, a subsidiary of Russian mining and steel producing group Mechel, took over management of ZMZ under a trilateral strategic partnership agreement reached between the two companies and the regional administration in the Chelyabinsk region.
