Global crude steel production in November this year decreased by 5.1 percent month on month and rose by 5.8 percent year on year to 148.61 million metric tons, according to the World Steel Association (worldsteel). In the January-November period of this year, global crude steel production increased to 1.64 billion mt, up by 4.7 percent year on year.
In November this year, crude steel output in Asia amounted to 104.48 million mt, rising by eight percent, with 77.62 million mt produced by China, up 10.8 percent, 8.65 million mt produced by Japan, decreasing by 0.5 percent, 8.49 million mt produced by India, decreasing by 1.3 percent, and 5.93 million mt produced by South Korea, rising by 1.1 percent - with all comparisons on year-on-year basis.
EU-28 countries produced 14.14 million mt of crude steel in November, up by 1.2 percent year on year. In the given month, Germany's output was 3.45 million mt, falling by 2.9 percent year on year, Italy's crude steel output was 2.18 million mt, down by one percent year on year, and France's crude steel output amounted to 1.35 million mt, up by 12.8 percent year on year.
Turkey produced 3.14 million metric tons of crude steel in November, with a 2.1 percent decrease from the same month of the last year. Iran's crude steel production in November amounted to two million mt, up by 2.5 percent year on year. The CIS registered a crude steel output of 8.03 million mt in November, decreasing by 5.9 on year-on-year basis, with Russia producing 5.68 million mt, falling by four percent, and Ukraine producing 1.66 million mt, down by 11.2 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
In North America in November, crude steel output totaled 10.1 million mt, increasing by 6.3 percent, with the US producing 7.42 million mt, rising by 11.8 percent, and Mexico producing 1.5 million mt, down by 8.2 percent, all on year-on-year basis. Crude steel output in South America in November amounted to 3.68 million mt, decreasing by 4.9 percent from November last year, with Brazil's output totaling 2.84 million mt, decreasing by 6.1 percent year on year.
