World crude steel output rises by 4.7 percent in January-October

Global crude steel production in October this year  increased by 3.2 percent month on month and rose by 5.8 percent year on year to156.58 million metric tons, according to the World Steel Association (worldsteel). In the January-October period of this year, global crude steel production increased to 1.5 billion mt, up by 4.7 percent year on year.

In October this year, crude steel output in Asia amounted to 110.51 million mt, rising by 7.6 percent, with 82.55 million mt produced by China, up 9.1 percent, 8.56 million mt produced by Japan, decreasing by 4.5 percent, 8.77 million mt produced by India, increasing by 0.4 percent, and 6.18 million mt produced by South Korea, rising by 3.5 percent - with all comparisons on year-on-year basis.

EU-28 countries produced 14.75 million mt of crude steel in October, down by 0.8 percent year on year. In the given month, Germany's output was 3.6 million mt, rising by 1.4 percent year on year, Italy's crude steel output was 2.29 million mt, up by 1.1 percent year on year, and France's crude steel output amounted to 1.3 million mt, down by 3.5 percent year on year.

Turkey produced 3.16 million metric tons of crude steel in October, with a 4.3 percent decrease from the same month of the last year. Iran's crude steel production in October amounted to 2.07 million mt, up by 10.6 percent year on year. The CIS registered a crude steel output of 8.51 million mt in October, decreasing by 1.1 on year-on-year basis, with Russia producing 6.02 million mt, rising by 0.6 percent, and Ukraine producing 1.78 million mt, down by 6.7 percent, both on year-on-year basis.

In North America in October, crude steel output totaled 10.47 million mt, increasing by 5.5 percent, with the US producing 7.57 million mt, rising by 10.5 percent, and Mexico producing 1.69 million mt, up by 1.1 percent, all on year-on-year basis. Crude steel output in South America in October amounted to 3.96 million mt, rising by 2.4 percent from October last year, with Brazil's output totaling 3.13 million mt, increasing by three percent year on year.
