In a move avoiding perspectives of strikes and a “slow-pace” of operations, the workers of the Brazilian steel and iron ore producer CSN have approved the collective agreement proposed by the company, covering salaries and other benefits during the 2023-2024 period.

Last week, the negotiations reached a deadlock, as CSN refused to negotiate with a single union representing all its workers, deciding instead to negotiate with different groups of workers from each of its activities, including steel production and galvanizing, mining and cement production.

The approval was made via a poll, with 3,736 approvals and 2,948 rejections.
