Voestalpine to supply linepipe plates to OMK for South Stream project

Austria-based steelmaker voestalpine has announced that it will supply 120,000 mt of sour-gas-resistant, high-strength linepipe plates to Russia-based pipe producer United Metallurgical Company (OMK) for the production of large diameter (LD) pipes for the second South Stream pipeline. The South Stream contract is not affected by sanctions against Russia.

Delivery is scheduled to take place from December 2014 through to spring 2015.

The pipes with a diameter of 813 mm and a wall thickness of 39 mm will be manufactured at Vyksa Steel Works.
