Vietnam’s steel production up

Vietnam's steel production rose 20 percent year on year during the January-July 2005 period due to the positive growth of the steel industry. The Vietnam Steel Association (VSA) disclosed that the country's steel production reached 1.45 million tons in the first seven months of the year. In July alone, steel production amounted to 240'000 tons and steel sales totaled 210'000 tons. VSA also indicates that in early August Vietnam had a stockpiles of 250'000 tons of finished steel products and 200'000 tons of steel ingots. VSA expects steel production to amount to 230'000 tons in August and 240'000 tons in September.
